Antibiotics in livestock By: Kaeden
3. Antibiotics are used in livestock to prevent disease and to reduce the chance of humans getting bacterial infections from livestock. But the biggest reason why farmers use antibiotics is, they make more money and there livestock are bigger and live longer. Also they use antibiotics so the animals live longer so the farmer doesn't lose money. Livestock live a lot longer if they have antibiotics. One of the cons of using antibiotics in livestock is that it can create antibiotic resistance. Resistance bacteria can be transmitted from the livestock to humans. Resistance bacteria from livestock can cause infections in humans. Giving antibiotics to livestock that are not sick can make them get sick. Giving antibiotics to animals causes them to live in a crowded unsanitary environment. Farmers are starting to overuse antibiotics which is a really bad thing. 80% of the U.S. antibiotics are used for livestock. Antibiotics in livestock can cause salmonella. Giving antibiotics can make the animals grow bigger and faster..
2.it is then change in some way that reduces or eliminates the effectiveness of drugs, chemicals, or other agents designed to cure or prevent infections. The bacteria survive and continue to multiply causing more harm.can do this through several mechanisms. Jesus ortiz
